The Decent (and what can be done to combat it)

Miley Cyrus

In my humble opinion, we should make an effort to teach our daughters (sisters, nieces and female cousins), at a young age, that her body is one of the most sacred, most valuable things she possesses. That it will serve as a visual road-map of the various crooked paths and straight roads she traverses through her life journey. Teach her that her mind is the second greatest asset she possesses and to foster it with knowledge and productivity to ensure it functions at its highest capacity. Like the body, whatever she puts into it will become who she ultimately is and how she sees and approaches life and situations. Therefore, put uplifting, positive, strong substance into it so that her character will reflect this.

Teach her that both boys and men will eventuality come into her life and that she must NEVER sacrifice her body or her mind for either, especially if he is selfish, abusive, and/or untrustworthy. Teach her that sex does NOT equal love. Teach her that most of her stumbling blocks and enemies will first come into her life bearing gifts and smiles and false praise and encouragement which will falter and cease once they have used her for their own personal and selfish reasons. Therefore she must learn, early on, how to spot and detach these types of people from her life, without regret or hesitance. Teach her that we are ALL subject to make mistakes and fail, but that it is the mark of growth and maturity when she is able to learn from her mistakes and failures and not keep repeating the same ones time after time.

Teach her that NOTHING in life is free (with the exception of trouble) and she has to go out into this world and make her own way despite the numerous obstacles already set in place for her to fail way before she was born. The obstacles of life can wear one down, but an insurmountable number of people have given it all they could to overcame them. Teach her that SHE has to gain control and go out and get what is rightfully her, but she has to put in the work and effort to attain it. Teach her that many fights are won without ever throwing a punch or speaking a harsh word out of anger. Teach her to learn how to deal with issues responsibly and wisely and to avoid anything that will take her freedom away from her. Aggression equals an uncontrolled person and an uncontrolled person can be easily manipulated.

Teach her to aspire to travel outside of her own environment at least once in her lifetime as this is the best way to see varying points of views from different places. Teach her to be open-minded and willing to change if what she is doing is no longer working for her benefit and positive growth and development. Teach her to love and respect herself. Teach her about those that have come before her and fought and were murdered so that she might have the opportunity to live in better conditions. Teach her to respect and honor these people by doing her best and by also one day striving to help someone else in return. Teach her to rely on her own ability, reasoning, experience and knowledge as waiting for another or an unseen force can oftentimes be futile and self-defeating. Teach her to set realistic goals for herself and strive to reach her own full potential as opposed to the goals and aspirations of another, as what works for some may not work for her.

All of this is what I wish someone had taken the time to teach ALL of the young girls and women that have succumb to that which they were struggling with. With peer pressure, bullying, abusive relationships, and that which caused them to not see their full potential and/or not be able to make sense of this life thing we are all in. Those that did not ask to be here but had/have the weight of too much responsibility on their young shoulders at a young age.

We, that care, should do all that we can to ensure she has all she needs to grow and thrive in her lifetime. This does not just come in the form of food, clothing and shelter, but in wisdom, love, and understanding as well. It will be hard, but we should pledge to do our best to grow as well so that perhaps, one day, we will inspire her to become a Warrior vice another statistic, or worse. Either way, it all begins with your willingness to see her truly succeed.

I believe you can do it!

The Devil's Excrement

Observations focused on the problems of an underdeveloped country, Venezuela, with some serendipity about the world (orchids, techs, science, investments, politics) at large. A famous Venezuelan, Juan Pablo Perez Alfonzo, referred to oil as the devil's excrement. For countries, easy wealth appears indeed to be the sure path to failure. Venezuela might be a clear example of that.
