The Twilight Zone

“There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.”

These spoken words and the theme music it was recorded over would set the tone for what would be another mesmerizing episode of one of the best “before its time” television programs at the time. I would sit transfixed to this old black and white television until Rod Sterling summarized the end of the episode with his words of wisdom. The stories and themes the Twilight Zone dared to present to the world via the small screen opened my eyes to countless facets of this human condition of ours. Every time I watched this program, I grew a little wiser, a little more open-minded, and a little more mindful of not only my actions and thoughts but also the actions and idiosyncrasies of others (to this day). Imagine my surprise when I discovered the SyFi channel was ringing in 2011 with an all-day Twilight Zone marathon. It is a great way to get 2011 started! My Top 10 favorite episodes are (very hard to pick but include the following):

1. Time Enough at Last
2. The Shelter
3. To Serve Man
4. Third from the Sun
5. The Midnight Sun
6. A Piano in the House
7. Kick the Can
8. Escape Clause
9. The Four of Us Are Dying
10. The Lonely

  1. I’m quite a Twilight Zone fan myself.

  2. Hey, I am in the process of watching all of the episodes. My quest started when I was looking for the episode which the astronaughts land on a planet populated by small people. One of the astronaughts becomes a despost only to meet a fate similar to that he has inflicted on the indiginous. Fantastic show, extremely well executed. I am yet to find an episode which I can predict the end. I’m up to 104 only a few more to go 🙂

  3. What’s up Dear, are you really visiting this web site on a regular basis, if so then you will definitely obtain fastidious knowledge.

The Devil's Excrement

Observations focused on the problems of an underdeveloped country, Venezuela, with some serendipity about the world (orchids, techs, science, investments, politics) at large. A famous Venezuelan, Juan Pablo Perez Alfonzo, referred to oil as the devil's excrement. For countries, easy wealth appears indeed to be the sure path to failure. Venezuela might be a clear example of that.
